Herrera graduates Air Force basic

Air Force Airman Paul J. Herrera has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the former ward of Jacque Norris of Minden, and nephew of Jeff Del Giudice of Sparks.

Herrera is a 2007 graduate of Douglas High School.

Vangundy graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Brian R. Vangundy has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Teri Tatom of Gardnerville and Richard Vangundy of Riverside, Calif.

Vangundy is a 2005 graduate of Riverside Christian High School.

Jordan makes Iowa State dean's list

Gardnerville resident Mary Anne Jordan has been named to the dean's list at Iowa State University for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average while carrying at least 12 credit hours of graded work during the fall 2007 semester.

Jordan is is in her junior year as an elementary education major in the College of Humans Sciences.

Atack named to Creighton dean's list

Laura C. Atack of Gardnerville was named to Creighton University dean's honor roll for the fall 2007 semester.

Creighton is a Jesuit Catholic university located in Omaha, Neb.

Building Concepts' Tooker earns license

Lucy Tooker of Building Concepts Inc. has passed the civil engineer examination, earning her license as a professional civil engineer by the California Board for Professional Engineers.

A 2002 honor graduate of the school of engineering at U.C. Davis, Tooker has worked at Building Concepts since 2004.

"Having Lucy reach this milestone allows us to further our mission of being the primary provider of architecture, engineering, and planning services throughout the Carson Valley and the greater Sierra," said Patrick Clark, principal engineer and owner of Building Concepts.
