Extension hosts volunteer workshops

Do you find yourself doing a lot of your group's work alone, wondering "Where is everyone else? Why don't people show up and help out like they used to?"

A mini-workshop on "Make It Magnetic!" and "Fat-Free Meetings" will be 4-7 p.m. Feb. 28, in the Douglas County Public Library at 1625 Library Lane, Minden. Seating is limited to the first 20 registrants and the cost is $10, paid by check or money order, which covers refreshments and materials.

This event is open to anyone interested in improving involvement in their volunteer organizations.

Attracting and keeping people engaged in volunteer activities is a universal problem.

All volunteer organizations Ð agricultural, Boy Scouts, charities, church choirs, ladies guilds, Parent-Teacher Association, service clubs, youth dports, etc. Ð face the problem of getting people involved, coming to meetings and carrying out the group's projects.

Studies reveal there are simple ways to not only attract but also keep volunteers connected by making your organization "magnetic."

One of the most important secrets is to have more organized and much shorter business meetings.
