Wrestling: Douglas topples Wooster

The Douglas varsity wrestling team dominated a depleted Wooster line-up on Wednesday and notched its third-straight league dual victory 64-15.


The Tigers recorded falls by Dillon Spates, Eddie Kollar, Justin Freeman, Steve Anderson, and Pat Miller to maintain the advantage on first place in the Sierra League.


Douglas is 12-1 in dual team competition overall this year and 3-0 in league duals.


The Tigers remaining dual schedule has South Tahoe at home on Wednesday Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. as well as rival Carson at home on senior night Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. The Tigers travel to Bishop Manogue on Jan. 7 and new league rival Fallon on Jan. 28.


This weekend Douglas will be in Winnemucca at the Cody Louk Invitational, followed by the Sierra Nevada Classic on Dec. 29 and 30 at the Reno Livestock Events Center.


The Tigers travel to California twice in January as they will compete at the Big Valley Classic in Stockton, Jan. 9-10 and return to the Lawrence Miller Memorial Invitational for the 33rd straight year on Jan. 17.


The wrestling team encourages the community to support their home duals on Jan. 14 and 21. This team, currently ranked No. 1 in the region, is wrestling at a very high caliber.
