Historic Christmas at Home Ranch

The Dangberg Home Ranch will be open 1-5 p.m. today and Sunday to offer visitors a glimpse of Christmas past.

The items are part of the childhood days of two generations of Carson Valley's pioneer Dangberg family.

"Our exhibit includes a variety of stuffed animals, dolls, card games and other toys from the early decades of the 20th century, as well as board games, construction sets, and other play items from the 1930s and 1940s," said Park Interpreter Mark Jensen. "We have Kewpie dolls, early Mickey Mouse toys, cast-iron trains, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, board games from the 1910s such as 'Department Store' and 'Sailor Boy,' and other toys that will make you laugh, think and reminisce."

Guests may also view a collection of Christmas cards exchanged with the Dangbergs. Vintage ornaments, an aluminum Christmas tree and other decorations will be on display. Live music will be provided by pianists playing the family's 1916 Knabe and Co. grand piano.

Visitors may end their tour with complimentary cookies and cider.

Admission is $3 adults, free for children. Guests should wear warm clothing.

The park is at 1450 Highway 88, just south of Minden. Information, 783-9417.
