The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Departments' 12th annual Summer Family Concert Series in Minden Park concludes with the Michael Powers Group, 6-8 p.m. Aug. 29. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold by the Minden-Douglas Elks Lodge No. 2670 with proceeds to be used for community projects.
The Seattle-based Michael Powers Group is Powers on guitar, Dave Austin on drums and Eddy Ferguson on bass. Powers describes what he plays as contemporary instrumental music: rooted in jazz, with pop and R&B styles and inspired by the blues. His music features guitar as a solo voice and is influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Charlie Parker, George Benson, Miles Davis and Kevin Eubanks.
