Lyon has first human case of West Nile in Nevada

A Lyon County resident under the age of 50 is the first Nevadan reported to have West Nile fever, a less severe version of West Nile Virus.

The virus is spread by infected mosquitoes, according to State Epedemiologist Dr. Ihsan Azzam.

The first human case reported in rural counties last year was reported on Aug. 3.
