The body of Army Sgt. Timothy "Timmy" Smith returns to South Lake Tahoe today, with an expected 12:20 p.m. arrival at the airport.
A procession will begin from the South Lake Tahoe Airport to McFarlane Mortuary. The community is invited to line both sides of Emerald Bay Road starting at the airport to honor his service to our country and to support his family, which includes Barton Hospital employee Patty Smith.
Barton employees are invited to join the MSO billing employees in honoring Smith at 1111 Emerald Bay Road. Carpooling is encouraged.
KRLT 93.9 FM radio will be announcing flight updates.
Sgt. Crenshaw, who is part of the Smith family support team, said that people in other communities line up five-deep for miles for such an event and hopes South Lake Tahoe will do the same for this brave hometown soldier and beloved friend.
Services for Smith will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sierra Community Church on Sierra Blvd. Carpooling encouraged as church parking is limited. A light lunch follows the service.
