The Morning R-C

The prices of things have been going up lately, but one price increase has hit close to home. The price of a taco at the Minden/Douglas Elks Lodge monthly Taco Night has gone up to $1.50. Previously a dollar, the tacos are one way the Elks raise money during the year for their many good works. The fundraiser is usually 5-7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday at the lodge, located at 1276 Pit Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. That will be April 24 this month. The good news is that the Elks' April 27 pancake breakfast the following Sunday has been, so far, unaffected by inflation. Breakfast is $5.50 for adults and $3. They serve 8:30-11 a.m. on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Hope you're ready for spring fever, because highs in the 70s and lows above freezing for the foreseeable future are going to have people outside a lot. It's going to be very nice for a bit in the middle of this month, but don't be fooled. Plant a garden this month, you'll be replanting in June. Today's high will be 64, but the real news is on Sunday, when the high temperature is forecast to crack 80 for the first time in a long time.

The new owners have received their liquor license to operate Marcello's Ristorante & Bar in the former Villa san Marcel. The owner is Robert Humphrey of Mi Amore Foods. Marcello's is located at 1799 B Ironwood Drive in Minden.
