Mustangs up for adoption

Mustang Adoption Day is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at S&W Feed, 2292 S. Carson St., Carson City. There will be 10-12 mustangs, from weanlings to young adults, offered for adoption by state or Bureau of Land Management agencies. The horses are in the process of being halter broken.

Prospective owners have to be approved by members of the Fish Springs Wild Horse Posse and the Least Resistance Training Concepts mustang rescue groups. Those considered to adopt the mustangs are required to have a 5-6 foot tall corral and shelter for the horse with no barbed wire. Bring a photo of corral to help with adoption process.

Members of the mustang rescue groups will visit new homes before horses will be adopted out. The wild horse posses and LRTC are available to provide transportation and training. Adoption fees range from $150-$250. First come, first served.
