Boys' Soccer: Tigers run win streak to 3

The Douglas boys' soccer team picked up a 3-0 win at Damonte Ranch to improve to 9-2 overall on the year and 3-1 in Sierra League play.

The Tigers also ran their streak of wins to three.

Coach Milko Vasquez said perhaps one of the biggest highlights for his team wasn't something that would show up on a stat sheet. Instead, the opportunity for Douglas to dip down into its bench proved to be one of the biggest bonuses of the afternoon.

"We got to give our starters a break and we made our depth count," Vasquez said.

"That will be important. We wanted to focus on some things we want to do in future matches and we were able to do that. It was a good game for us."

Vasquez specifically noted reserves Ben Wood, Christian Salazar and Timo Loullgen for their play in the match.

Scoring-wise, Ross Gardner opened things up for the Tigers in the 48th minute with a goal off an assist from Eddie Vega.

Edgar Arceo placed a nice corner kick in front of the net in the 64th minute and Robbie Forest was there to punch it in.

Antoine Vandenbalke scored on an assist from Gardner in the 73rd minute to wrap things up for the Tigers.

Douglas hosts North Valleys Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and travels to No. 1 South Tahoe Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
