At the Lake: Suspected drunk driver treated, booked into jail after crash

A 37-year-old Tahoe City man was flown to Reno's Renown Medical Center and later transported to Douglas County Jail following a single-vehicle rollover accident Monday morning on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove.

Jordan Park was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, unsafe passing on the right, an expired registration and no insurance, said Nevada Highway Patrol Officer Chuck Allen.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 at about 9:05 a.m. and tied up traffic in both lanes for about an hour. According to reports heard over police radio, Park was airlifted to Renown from George Whittell High School, where he was treated. He was later released to Douglas County authorities, Allen said.

Jordan was driving a green 1993 Toyota pickup and tried to pass a motorist on the right shoulder when he hit an embankment that caused the vehicle to roll multiple times, according to an NHP accident report.

No extrication was required, and it is believed Park was wearing a seat belt. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
