Mary Marcelline Clifton


1930-2007


A public memorial Mass will be 1 p.m. today at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for Mary Marcelline Clifton, 77, who died Oct. 24, 2007.


Mrs. Clifton, born Feb. 1, 1930, in Atchison, Kan., to Albert and Honora Slattery. At a young age, she and her family moved to Salinas, Calif., where she received her education. She was a sister, wife, mother, and grandmother; someone who never knew a stranger, and was truly defined by those she knew. With open arms, Mary welcomed even minor acquaintances into her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could strike up a conversation with anybody she met.


Mrs. Clifton was preceded in death by her sister Bernadette. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, George Clifton, daughters Barbara and her husband Nick, Janet and her husband Michael, Sally, sons Michael and John and his wife Nicole, grandchildren Brandon, Darren, Jaclyn, Tyler, Haley, Austin, Mitchell, Sean, Nathan, Luke and Bailey; brother-in-law Jack and his wife Marilyn, her sisters Rita and Maureen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Cancer Society. A private service will be held on Monday.




William Vernon Jones


1925-2007


A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Silver Legacy Convention Center in Reno, for William (Bill) Vernon Jones, 82, who died Oct. 16, 2007, in Gardnerville.


Mr. Jones was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Le Grand, Calif., to Eva and Odel Jones. He was raised in Sacramento and attended Alameda High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1941-1945. He played pro baseball and was drafted as a pitcher for the New York Yankees farm team.


A resident of Reno from 1958-1987, he joined Harrah's as a cashier with the credit department and moved on to several positions, including executive casino host and assistant general manager for more than 28 years. He worked for Caesars Tahoe as an executive casino host for 15 years, living in Gardnerville, where he and his wife Barbara retired. His favorite casino times were the early days and beginning of Harrah's. He enjoyed being a host, traveling, golfing, race track, boxing and all sports, making friends along the way. Being involved in entertainment, he befriended many stars. He was a member of the Better Business Bureau, president of South Reno Babe Ruth, counseling troubled young people throughout Washoe County and a member of Hidden Valley, Lakeridge and Edgewood Country Clubs. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandfather, brother and friend.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Edwin. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara (Babe) Jones of Gardnerville; sons William C. Jones and wife, Dianne, Scott A. Jones and wife Fely, Robert F. Jones and wife Dawn, Roger L. White and wife Cindy, Rod Walters and wife Nancy, Danny A. Jones and wife Amber, Doug L. Jones and wife Sandra; grandchildren Nathan and Kyle Jones, Andrew and Jeffery Jones, Heather and Kim Jones, Luke and Sara Walters, Simone and Roman Williams Jones; great-grandchildren Jason and Jarad Jones, Anthony Jones, Sophia, Kylie and Avery Chen and Alexander Blair; sister Salona (Sal) White; and many nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.




Marie K. Menesini


1913-2007


A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 37 S. West St., Yerington, for Marie K. Menesini, 94, who died Oct. 23, 2007 at the South Lyon Medical Center Long Term Care in Yerington.


Mrs. Menesini was born May 19, 1913 in Yerington to Modesto and Margherita Roselli Dellamonica. She was raised on the Dellamonica Ranch and graduated from Yerington High School. She married James Bowell in 1941 who died from injuries received in an auto accident in 1943. On September 14, 1946, she married Louie Menesini in Yerington. They purchased the Giomi Ranch in 1953 and they farmed there until they retired and moved into town in the early 1970s. Mrs. Menesini loved the outdoors, she enjoyed the Sweetwater area and Wilson Canyon. She was an avid rock hound and bottle collector. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of St. Anne's Guild and the Holy Family Italian Catholics.


Mrs. Menesini was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louie Menesini who died in 1981 and her sister Modie Tucker. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Menesini of Gardnerville; son James and his wife Maderia Bowell of Mesa, Ariz.; her brother Luis Dellamonica of Hawthorne; grandchildren Christan Doyle, Kelley Menesini, Jimmy Bowell, Chris Bowell, Maderia Billingsly, Lindsey Wharton, Amy Arraiz and Kadie Jackson; her great-grandchildren Jacob Doyle, Austin Giles, Jonathan Brown, Ean Brown, Kylie Jackson and Taylor Jackson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the family plot of Valley View Cemetery in Yerington. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.FRFH.net.
