Girls' Soccer: Lady Tigers topple Damonte Ranch

The Douglas girls' soccer team posted its third shutout in four games and extended its home unbeaten streak with with a 5-0 win over Damonte Ranch Tuesday afternoon.


Douglas has not lost in its last 16 games at home, dating back to Carson's late-season trip to Minden in 2005 in which the Senators won 4-0.


The Tigers are set to take on the Senators Thursday night at the Keith "Duke" Roman Sports Complex, where their streak will surely be tested.


Ally Freitas scored in the fourth minute of the game and again in the 30th after she took a nice dump pass and carried it in toward the net. She blasted it in to give Douglas the 2-0 lead.


Sarah Hartley then chipped in with a goal of her own in the 38th minute to put the Tigers up 3-0 and scored another in the 50th minute to give Douglas a 4-0 lead.


Nicole Didero finished off the scoring on the afternoon for the Tigers six minutes later after taking an assist from Alexandra Laing and putting it in.


Jamie Greer recorded three saves in posting her 10th shutout of the season.


Douglas improved to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in league play on the season with the win.
