Convicted killer Robert Johnson, 57, was taken back to Colorado on Wednesday to face charges related to his escape and to serve out the remainder of his sentence. Johnson had been living under the name Bob Fargo for 31 years since he walked away from a Colorado prison sentence he was serving for a 1972 drug murder.

I just watched the temperature drop a degree from 38 to 37, but I can't tell a single molecule of moisture has fallen in Carson Valley from this storm. There's not much in the way of cloud cover and it looks like what there might have been has been shredded as the storm pushed south. The National Weather Service is still forecasting a 60 percent chance of rain or snow by 11 a.m., but that doesn't look very likely right now for us.

The sound of cannon fire will ring through Gardnerville as Old Town Days' annual Civil War re-enactment kicks off today with a special event for school children. Civil War enthusiasts will conduct battles at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
