Markleeville artists open studios for fall tour

Alpine County artists want to share the changing colors of fall and open their studios to the public at the fifth annual Markleeville Artists Autumn Open Studios, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Main registration for the tours is at the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce.

"It's a wonderful time to see the fall colors and go in artists' studios," said artist Gina Gigli. "All of the artists live in Markleeville and it's an opportunity to see their homes. They all have beautiful views. Many are by a stream, the river, a pasture or have a view of the mountains and pine trees. The event is not to especially promote sales but to share studios and autumn colors with the public."

Stop at the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, the first building on the right in Markleeville, for maps and guides to the artists' studios. Open studios will be indicated with banners.

Indian tacos will be served by Dale Bennett in the Markleeville Community Park next to the Alpine County Library. The library features an exhibit of Indian art.

The Markleeville Artists Autumn Open Studios welcomes sponsors: Carson Ridge, Indian Tacos, Kyle's Kabin and Odd Pony, The Deli, Hope Valley Outdoors, Markleeville Grocery, Sunrise Construction, Villa Gigli, Yonker Construction and Wolf Creek.
