Christmas Service Round-up



-- The Shepherd of the Sierra Choir presents "A Festive Celebration of Christmas Joy," 3 p.m. Sunday Dec. 16 at Shepard of the Sierra Lutheran Church at 3680 Highway 395 in Carson City.


The Sunday School of Shepherd of the Sierra will present the program "This Shall be a Sign Unto You" at the 11 a.m. service, Dec. 23.


-- Christmas celebrations at Christ Presbyterian Church begin Sunday Dec. 16 with Christmas cantata, "One Small Child," arranged by Benjamin Harlan.


The Christmas candlelight service, 7 p.m. Dec. 24, includes scripture readings and Christmas carols led by the Rev. Bob Blatz and features soloist Deborah Garrett with "Mary Did You Know?"

-- Unity Church of Today has a 7 p.m. service Christmas Eve in the sanctuary, 1701 Lucerne St., Minden, featuring a performance by the Unity Chorus. No services Christmas Day.


New Year's Eve is celebrated with the annual Unity Burning Bowl Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. The Unity tradition invites the release of past troubles, to "Let go and let God," in anticipation of creating a brighter new year.

-- The sixth annual Joyful Noise Community Holiday Concert returns to the CVIC Hall in Minden, 7 p.m. Dec. 19. Hot cider and holiday treats, Christmas classics performed by Unity Chorus, Cherie and John Shipley. Admission is a donation. Information unitychurchoftoday.org or 782-4429.




-- Candlelight service at Valley Christian Fellowship, Meadowdale Center, 1267 Highway 395, Suite J, Gardnerville, 6 p.m. Dec. 24.


New Year's Eve party 7 p.m. Dec. 31 featuring free family movie night with Randy Travis starring in "The Wager" by Bill Myers.

-- The Ninth Noel Christmas Dinner is 1-4 p.m. Dec. 25 at the St. Gall Pastoral Hall, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.


Volunteers are needed for setup, food preparation, decorating, greeting, serving, cleanup and are invited to the dinner. Planning meeting for potential volunteers, 9 a.m. Dec. 15 in the pastoral center. Information, Rita Hill, 783-9908.
