Holiday season warming up

The fifth annual Let There Be Light Christmas home decorating contest is underway. There are cash prizes for first through third places in the contest, not to mention adding Christmas spirit to the valley. You must enter by Dec. 4 at (530) 495-2508, with the judging taking place Dec. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. Get in the spirit and enter your home in this fun contest.

Christmas social

The Northern Mono Chamber of Commerce is again having their Christmas social on Dec. 8. There will be a social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a delicious dinner to follow at 6:30, costing only $10 per person. They will have a no-host bar, karaoke, raffles and auctions of delicious holiday desserts. Reservations need to be made by Dec. 4 at (530) 495-2508 or (530) 495-9666. It was great fun last year, and I hope you won't miss it.

Volunteers needed

at senior center

The new site coordinator, Claudia Bonnet, is working very hard to revitalize the center. Please go in for lunch, meet her, and give her your wishes for the center's activities. She really cares what you think. Also, she told me that the center could use some volunteers for a few hours a week with various things ranging from helping in the kitchen to planning activities. Stop by and offer your help, or call her at (530) 495-2323.

Coleville high school basketball

Both boys' and girls' teams from Coleville High School will get the season rolling this Friday and Saturday with the Antelope Valley Lions Tournament. Let's get out there and give them our support to start the season off right.

Pancake breakfast and bazaar

The Antelope Valley Parent Teacher Organization is holding their annual pancake breakfast and gift bazaar this Saturday in the elementary school multi-purpose room. Their event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a good breakfast and several booths to see with gift items for the holidays.

This and that

I hope everyone out there had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, with all the delicious foods (especially the desserts) that the season brings. Now, we have to get ready for the Christmas season and get our shopping done as early as possible.
