Since the Douglas High School band's win at the McQueen Extravaganza on Oct. 6, the Pride of the Carson Valley has gone on to place first in three more tournaments.
On Oct. 13, the Tigers took home first place for best band in their division, best percussion, music and general effects at the Performance of Champions competition at Galena High School.
On Oct. 27, the Tigers took home first place for best band in their division for a field competition at the Nevada Day celebration in Carson City. The band also placed first in visual performance, music, effect and pageantry.
On Nov. 3, the Tigers won the state marching champions title in their division at the Sierra Band Crusade at University of Nevada, Reno. The Tigers took first place for best band, winds and brass, and again best pageantry.
"We've had four competitions and four first-place wins," said Douglas music director Bill Zabelsky. "I'm not sure we've done this before. Half our band is new... We started off with a bang and continued with a bang. It's pretty incredible."
Zabelsky said he would like to thank the Douglas pageantry teacher Amy Jackson, band teacher at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Dave Roberson and band teacher at Carson Valley Middle School Travis Walls.
