Edward R Corda


1919-2007


A funeral Mass was May 22 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City for Edward R. Corda, 86, a 47-year resident of Carson City who died at his home May 17, 2007.


Mr. Corda was born June 29, 1919, in Gilroy, Calif., to Frank and Amelia Vale Corda. He moved to Gardnerville with his father and graduated from Douglas County High School. He participated in every sport offered at Douglas High. He lettered in football, baseball, basketball, track and tennis. He also played semi-professional football for the Sacramento Solons.


He married his high school sweetheart, Marie Borda on March 18, 1939. They eloped and were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fallon.


Mr. Corda worked for Continental Telephone after school and after his high school graduation until he went to work for Standard Oil Co. He served in the Army at Camp Roberts, Calif., as a rifle instructor and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a staff sergeant.


When he returned from service, he went back to his job with Standard Oil Co., where he worked for 39 years, retiring in 1961.


They ran the East Fork Bar in Gardnerville after his retirement.


He was an avid golfer and bowler and continued to golf and bowl until last year when his legs just wouldn't let him practice anymore. He continued to sponsor his bowling team and would go every Tuesday night to cheer his team on.


Mr. Corda was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Marie Borda Corda, and all his siblings except June Backus of Salinas, Calif. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Martin and Sandy Corda Arraiz of Carson City, his son Ron Corda of Carson City and his son Edward P. Corda of Sacramento. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Nevada Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.




Cynthia Kay McIntosh


1949-2007


A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Saturday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church for Cynthia Kay McIntosh, 58, who died May 20, 2007, at her Minden home after a long two year battle with cancer.


Mrs. McIntosh was born April 29, 1949, in Kansas City to Harry E. and Jacqueline C. Heite. She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School and California State College, Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in English. She taught fourth and fifth grades for 15 years and was director of music for 13 years and Family Ministries for seven years for the Carson Valley United Methodist Church. She married Dave McIntosh in Redondo Beach, Calif., June 25, 1977, and lived in Anaheim until moving to Minden 14 years ago. She was a member of the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.


She was preceded in death by her father, May 4, 1995. She is survived by her husband Dave McIntosh of Minden; daughter Kelly Suzanne McIntosh of Henderson and son Andrew Douglas McIntosh of Reno. She is also survived by her mother Jackie Heite of Torrance, Calif. and her brother Doug Heite of Garden Grove, Calif.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville, with cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. Lloyd Ray Watley Jr.


1946-2007


A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Grace Community Church, 2320 Heybourne Road in Minden for Lloyd Ray Watley Jr., 60, who died May 14, 2007, in Carson City.


Mr. Watley was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Swanee, Tenn., to Lloyd Ray Watley Sr. and Gladys McDowell. He attended Contra Costa College in San Pablo, Calif. He married Diane Watley May 12, 1972, in El Sobrante, Calif. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and spent his career in management of computer and network systems. He lived in El Sobrante prior to moving to Carson City 30 years ago. He was a member of Grace Community Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Diane Watley of Carson City; daughter Gaytha Watley of Oakland, son-in-law Jeremy Adkins of Oakland; sister Julia Watley and husband John Richardson of El Sobrante; brothers Richard Watley and his wife Barbara of Pinole, Calif., Brian Watley and his wife Beth of Sacramento, Daniel Watley and wife Eileen of Milpitas, Calif.; uncle and aunt Wayne and Mary Russell; niece and nephews Mathew, Joey and Katie Watley.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City. Memorial donations can be made to the American Liver Foundation or the family.




Leula M. Wynant


1919-2007


A funeral service was May 18 at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville for Leula M. Wynant, 87, who died May 16, 2007, in Gardnerville.


Mrs. Wynant was born July 9, 1919, in Kimball, Neb., to Edward Lee and Lula Roberts. After graduating from high school she married Leslie L. Wynant, Feb. 16, 1946. She worked as a secretary for civil services. A resident of Gardnerville for three years, she previously lived in Reno for 30 years.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Wynant, March 13, 2000, in Reno, her brother Willis Lee in Kimball, Neb., in 1964. She is survived by her daughters Lee Ann Dietrich of San Jose and Lorraine Masterson of Gardnerville; three grandchildren Geoffrey and Jeremy Dietrich and Kaitlin Young as well as her sister Doris Perry of Kimball, Neb.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Burial will take place at Sierra Memorial Park in Reno at a later date.
