Tomorrow's stars are today's performers

The Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley is pleased to announce the winners of last Saturday's Stars of Tomorrow Talent Showcase.

Melanie Bratsch received the $1,250 Gene Zimmerman Memorial scholarship for her rendition of "Popular" from the musical "Wicked."

Kassie MacMillan and Kevin Nelson tied for first runner up, so the first runner-up and second runner-up awards were combined and divided between the two performers. Kassie performed a modern dance solo to "Cabaret Hoover," and Kevin tap danced to "Singin' in the Rain."

Third runner-up went to Melanie Bratsch and Lacey Sullivan who sang a duet to "What is This Feeling" from "Wicked."

The People's Choice Award was given to Kevin Nelson for his "Singin' in the Rain" tap-dance.

The scholarship sponsors include: The Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley, Maxton Manufacturing, Carson Valley Medical Center, ReMax, Byron Waite of MTM Capital Service Corporation, Jessica Jensen, and Delahay Appraisal.
