Updates on Douglas grads for the week ending April 29, 2007





BASEBALL


Bryan Miller, jr., OF, Troy University: The Trojans have won 10 of their last 11 games, running their season record to 29-17 overall and 13-8 in Sun Belt Conference play. He is third on the team in batting with a .350 average.


Cal Lewis, sr., 3B, South Dakota State: The Jacks swept Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne over the weekend getting two home runs and three RBIs from Lewis in four games.


Chris Honer, soph., P, Point Loma: Point Loma opens the Region II playoffs today against Concordia. Honer has a season ERA of 3.42 with a 2-1 record in 14 appearances. He has 18 strikeouts and only three walks.


Shane Cauley, jr., OF, Chico State: The Wildcats are on a six-game win streak after sweeping Dominguez Hills over the weekend. He is batting .333 on the year.


D.J. Brady, fr., OF, Mesa College: Mesa is 30-26 overall and 15-21 in conference play.


Chad Walling, soph., INF, Western Nevada: Walling is 12-for-12 on stolen base attempts with 16 runs scored this year.




SOFTBALL


Kristy Olsen, jr., 3B/OF, Iowa State: The Cyclones dropped two to No. 18 Texas over the weekend. Olsen has stolen 16 bases in 19 attempts this year.


Brittany Puzey, soph., OF, Nevada: No games last week.


Valerie Smith, soph., C, Columbia: Smith is batting .301 with 13 doubles, three home runs and a triple to go with 23 RBIs.


Kayla Dunn, soph., P/IF, Feather River: The Eagles got swept by Redwoods last Tuesday.




TRACK & FIELD


Daniel Sipko, jr. , Eastern Oregon: Did not compete last week.


Ryan Bertucci, fr. , Chico State: Stats not available.


Andi Villasenor, sr., Mount Holyoke College: Earned second-team all-conference honors by placing second in the shot put at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference championships. She had a throw of 37 feet, five inches.
