- A 38-year-old Colorado man was sentenced Tuesday to three years probation for stealing night vision goggles worth more than $40,000 from a Minden military force protection company. Page A3

- A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested March 3 for his second driving under the influence charge after his speeding vehicle nearly clipped the sideview mirror on a deputy's cruiser. Page A3

- Lawyer Kevin Walsh withdrew Tuesday as counsel for sexual assault suspect Ronald J. Smith after his client complained the attorney was charging him too much money. Page A3

- Five Douglas County women will be honored as Women in History at a Douglas County Historical Society reception 2 p.m. Sunday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. The women who were nominated and chosen for significantly contributing to the history and quality of life in Douglas County are: JoAnn Smokey Martinez, Elizabeth D. - The Gardnerville council of the Knights of Columbus is dedicating its Friday "bingo night" to the Douglas County Sheriff's Captain Mike Biaggini Cancer Fund. The net proceeds from this event will be donated to help pay for his non-medical expenses related to his California trips for treatment.
