The R-C Morning Report

A gang awareness training session sponsored by the Washoe Tribe has been cancelled until fall. We heard about the session after the calendar went to bed on Thursday.

It's going to be a busy weekend leading into a short week. Not much going on today, but starting Saturday there's the big arts and crafts fair in Minden, the Markleeville Poker Run, the Corley Ranch Arts and Crafts Faire, a car wash at La Dolce Vita, two big garage sales and the Douglas High 100-year All-school Reunion to the class of 1990 at the JT in Gardnerville.

This weekend will also feature Magiko's Tour of Carson Valley Barbecue and Ice Cream Social and a concert at Heritage Park both on Sunday.

The bicycle tour starts and ends in Mormon Station Historic State Park on Sunday morning and will allow bicyclists to participate according to their skill level. The concert is at 5 p.m. in Gardnerville and features Ambrosia with Gary Wright.

Road work is scheduled to wrap up on State Route 28 near Spooner Lake on Saturday. Night work is continuing on Highway 395 north of Minden where it appears a pocket lane is being built for the new Muller Parkway entrance. That work should be completed by Aug. 25. Additionally, paving work is continuing on Jacks Valley Road north of Genoa, with traffic down to one lane in places.
