Fire above Echo summit pumping smoke into Valley

At 2:45 p.m., at least three air tankers have been summoned to a five to 10 acre-fire near Mount Raineer and North Upper Truckee in the Echo Summit area, according to Camino Interagency Command Center.

The Tahoe Daily Tribune is reporting flames and columns of smoke are visible along Echo Summit where the fire is burning, according to police dispatch reports.

Firefighters have been asked to stage at Seneca and North Upper Truckee. Firefighters from throughout the basin are responding to the fire as of 2:47 p.m.
