Lone Tree Gallery branches out

Lone Tree Gallery has expanded to the second floor of the building at 1598 Esmeralda Avenue in downtown Minden and now has 3,000 square feet of studio space for art, furnishings and custom framing.

Three of several new artists occupying the 600 square-foot gallery space upstairs are South Lake Tahoe watercolorist Peter Darvas, pastel artist Benita Paulis and watercolor artist Andrew Sinclair.

Everything in the gallery will be 10 percent off during the Magiko Historic Minden Arts Festival, June 30-July 1.

Owner Barry Jobe said to watch for upcoming new artists and shows and to stop in to say hello. Lone Tree Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with extended hours until 8 p.m. during Minden's Tuesday night Farmers Markets.

Help your body

"When it hurts, it's your body telling you something's wrong," said Kim McIntyre of Perfect Touch Therapeutics.

The 1991 Douglas High School graduate has four years' experience in massage therapy and has been in business in Minden for three years. McIntyre has added Rolfing to his repertoire of body work, and after eight years of personal training, graduated from the Rolf Institute of Boulder, Colo., last October.

In Rolfing, or structural integration, the body's connective tissue is manipulated to rebalance the body and bring relief from chronic pain, stress and injury.

"Rolfing changes people's lives," said McIntyre. "Through body work and education, we teach people how to use their bodies more efficiently.

"I do like working on kids - it's great because they're really pliable. A lot of kids are active in sports and may get knee and ankle injuries. If a kid says he's hurting, listen to them."

McIntyre said having less pain through Rolfing could change people's perspective on life.

Perfect Touch Therapeutics is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at 1701 County Road, Suite A, Minden. For information, call 783-9090.
