NHP begins saturation patrols on Monday

Starting June 11, the Nevada Highway Patrol will be working overtime enforcing drunken driving and speed laws.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the highway patrol's northern command said they have received a grant that will provide for 32 hours of overtime between June 11 and June 24.

Sgt. Blair Harkleroad said troopers will be focusing on DUI and speed enforcement during saturation patrols.

"If we apprehend one suspected drunk driver and show a reduction of speed through enforcement during this two-week campaign, we feel we have been successful in possibly preventing an alcohol- or speed-related accident from occurring.
