Flash flood watch issued through this evening

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch from 11 a.m. Wednesday through the evening.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop around mid-day and continue through the evening. The greatest coverage of the thunderstorms is expected near the Sierra during the afternoon. It will shift into Western Nevada by this evening.

The approaching storms have the potential to produce heavy rainfall, to the tone of 0.5 to 1 inch per hour.

A flash flood watch means that flooding of small streams, creeks and other drainage areas is possible within the watch area.

Reports have come in of a severe storm south of Coleville around 1:30 p.m.
