Red flag goes back up

The red flag goes up at 9 a.m. and stays there until 9 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. Dry lightning, record-breaking temperatures and a 96 percent chance that anything coming into contact with a spark will burst into flame all combine to make yet another dangerous day on the fire beat.

Temperatures will drift between 95 and 105 degree with winds out of the west at 10-15 mph.

A burst of hot wind rolled through the Valley at about 6:30 a.m. today, perhaps driven by a thunderstorm moving across. The temperature hit 80 degrees in Genoa at 7 a.m., but dropped by 10 degrees in the vicinity of the storm.
