Temperatures are expected to crack 103 in Minden by Thursday, according to a National Weather Service special weather statement issued this morning.
High temperatures will build in Carson Valley through Tuesday and Wednesday, thanks to a ridge of high pressure building over the area.

The Weather Service is advising those who are prone to heat to take extra precautions, drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun during the warmest part of the day. Outdoor pets should be given plenty of water and shade.
