Past Grand Master of Masons in Nevada Edward M. Block and current Grand Senior Deacon of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Nevada David K. Baba presented scholarship checks to Caleb Prudhomme and Kimberly Zink respectively during a Masonic luncheon at Sharkey's. Prudhomme is in the second semester of his second year at Western Nevada Community College in a pre-engineering curriculum. Zink is a 2006 Carson City High School graduate and will be in her second semester at WNCC majoring in fine arts.
Local Masons and Sojourners meet at Sharkey's every Friday for lunch and contribute a dollar to the scholarship fund. In the last 10 years, the "Masonic Lunch Bunch" has contributed more than $12,000 to assist deserving local area students to attend college.
