Couple celebrates 50th anniversary

Congratulations to Bill and Claudine Broquist on their golden wedding anniversary.

Claudine Loechner and William Broquist were married on Feb. 23, 1957, at Visitation Catholic Church in Westchester, Calif. The matron of honor was Claudine's sister Pat Dennis and Pat's husband Tom gave the bride away. Bill's best man was Tom Rafter. A reception, attended by 150 family members and friends was held at the Westchester Women's Club. Bill and Claudine moved to Covina, Calif., in 1958 and then to West Covina to raise their three children, two boys and a girl.

Claudine worked in the mortgage business for 25 years and Bill worked in the aerospace industry until his retirement.

The couple moved to Carson Valley in 1995 to build their dream house on the land they purchased in 1992 in the foothills.

Bill is a member of the Carson Valley Sertoma Club and Claudine is the recording secretary of the Republican women's group.

A surprise party to celebrate this special occasion was planned by their children and Bill's mother Marcella, who is 93, in Southern California last December.

A smaller celebration will take place today at Barone and Reed Restaurant with their daughter Kacey and some good friends.

Stop by and say hello if you are there.
