Getting into fly fishing


Interested in fly fishing? Want to get back into it?

The High Sierra Fly Casters will be holding its monthly meeting on Feb. 21. The meeting is open to interested fisherpeople. Ladies encouraged. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church at 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

The club has a monthly topic speaker and monthly fishing trips scheduled. This month's speakers are world traveling fly fisherman Ron Myers and former owner of the Angler's Edge Peter Jon Bauer, who will give a presentation of fishing the Ferny area of British Columbia for westslope cutts and bulltrout. The monthly fishing trip is scheduled for Feb. 25 at Hinkson Slough in the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area. To participate, meet at Dini's in Yerington for no-host breakfast at 8 a.m. and then meet at the slough at 9:15.
