- Douglas and Whittell high school, and Carson Valley, Pau-Wa-Lu and Kingsbury middle school honor band and choir students joined their peers from 26 schools in the region to perform in a concert Thursday night at Douglas High School. The concert was presented by the Northern zone Nevada Music Educators Association. Page A1

- Genoans recommended that the sole applicant for town board, Dave Whitgob, get the job on Tuesday. Whitgob is a three-year resident of Genoa and is presently vice president, special projects, of the California State Automobile Association with offices in San Francisco. Page A2

- Members of the Gardnerville Town Board wondered where all the people attending events at an arts center proposed by Carson Valley Arts Council would park. Page A2

- A missing Reno Air Race aircraft may have been found near Marlette Lake above Incline Village on Thursday. The plane's pilot, Steve Brown, had been sought since he failed to return home on Tuesday. Page A3

- Lucy the drug-detecting dog sniffed out marijuana flakes in a Douglas High School classroom on Tuesday during a random check. An 18-year-old student was cited for possession of marijuana after Lucy found marijuana in a black leather jacket pocket. Page A3

- Sonia Xian Na Carlson grew up in China and moved to the U.S. in the 1980s. Carlson teaches classes in Chinese dance and culture and will lead a presentation at Minden Elementary School on Feb. 24, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Page B1

- Marjorie Springmeyer was honored by the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors Wednesday for being the oldest member. Springmeyer, who was born in Carson Valley, joined the association in 1963.

- The Douglas boys' and girls' basketball teams each took losses at the hands of the Reno Huskies Tuesday night. The boys fell just four points short but will still most-likely enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed out of the Sierra League. The girls can still clinch the No. 3 seed with wins tonight and Saturday against Wooster and Damonte Ranch. Page C1

- Douglas' wrestling squad will send six athletes to the Nevada 4A State Championships, which begin today at Spanish Springs High School. The Tigers are coming off a regional runner-up finish last week. Page C1
