Boys' Basketball:CVMS off to strong start

The Carson Valley Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team opened its season in strong fashion, winning four of its first five games.


Matt Wylie scored 23 points, Nick Maestretti had nine and James TenBroeck added six as the Tigers beat Alder Creek 50-9 to open the year.


Wylie led the team again with 10 points in a 35-15 win over Eagle Valley while Maestretti had six and Tim Denson, K.C. Green and Jake Tessman each hit 3-pointers.


Carson Valley lost its only game of the year so far in a 36-31 game against Carson as Maestretti scored 15 and Noah Thew and Wylie each scored four.


Tessman scored 12 points in a 46-14 win over South Tahoe while Wylie and Maestretti had eight each. Adrian Duenas and Thew each scored six in the win.


In a rivalry matchup against Pau-Wa-Lu, Thew led the Tigers with 13 points in a 54-18 win while Duenas scored nine and Maestretti scored eight. TenBroeck and Wylie each scored seven.


The Carson Valley seventh-graders have fared even better so far, going 5-0 through the first half of the season.


The Tigers opened with a 22-19 win over Alder Creek as Connor Greth scored six points and Christian Arzadon had four.


After a win over Eagle Valley, the Tigers took down Carson 41-20 as Nolan Weintz scored nine points, Hunter Myers had eight and Cody Thomas had six.


Myers scored 16 in a 40-23 win over South Tahoe while Michael Nolting had 10.


Weintz scored 11 in a 46-11 win over Pau-Wa-Lu while Jack Crawford and Ali Al-Azadi each had six.
