The band is Mike Maloney, lead guitar and vocals; Krista Jenkins, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Natalie Nielson on washtub bass and backup vocals; Orita Keebaugh, vocals and percussion. Acoustic Solution plays tonight at The Bank.


The Bank presents karaoke hosted by Buddy Wright and Alex Smith on Saturday nights and has open mic on Thursday nights, hosted by Dean Brownell.


Brownell plays a variety of instruments including rhythm and lead guitar, keyboards, bass guitar and congas and is both a lead and a backup singer. Come play solo or accompanied by others. Bring your instruments.

Kat at Improv


Carson Valley comedienne Kat Simmons performs through Sunday at Harveys Improv. Showtimes are 9 p.m. every night as well as 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows Saturday. Howie Nave opens the show.


Simmons has appeared on The Comedy Channel, Candid Camera and Comedy Nite and has opened for Kenny Rogers, Tim Allen and Kevin Nealon. Simmons produced Comedy Night Live at Carson Valley Inn for 10 years and returns Nov. 9-10 with the Three Blonde Moms show.

Radio Rage appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge live entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.


Radio Rage performs classic and modern rock hits to R&B, disco and current pop music.


The Fabulous Cut-Ups take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until Sept. 16. The band is Dave Gearhart, Vernon James, Dave Lewis and Ray Rodarte - longtime musicians who harmonize to a variety of popular songs from rock 'n' roll standards to R&B to country.

'Cars' in Heritage Park tonight


The Town of Gardnerville presents the animated adventures of Lightning McQueen in the Disney Pixar animated film "Cars" tonight in Heritage Park. Featured voices are Paul Newman, Richard Petty, Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy.


Vendors include the Carson Valley Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 411, Comstock Papa Murphy's Take N' Bake Pizza, Coldstone Creamery, Lee's Little Jimmy's Italian Ices. Borges Family Horse Rides offers pony rides before the show. Car display of look-a-like cars from the movie. Movies begin at dusk in Heritage Park, Gilman Avenue, Gardnerville.




Bar BQ Boyz


at Backroads


Bluegrass group Bar BQ Boyz play at Backroads Bar & Grill 8 p.m. Saturday.


The Bar BQ Boyz play mandolin, dobro, upright bass, guitar, banjo and harmonica.


The band's repertoire includes Bill Monroe's "Walls of Time," songs from "Oh Brother, Where art Thou?" "The Ballad of Jed Clampett," to songs from Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Johnny Cash and Bob Marley.

Concerts on the Green in Genoa

Acoustic Jam at Eddy Street Book Exchange


Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 at the Eddy Street Book Exchange.
