The R-C Morning Report

There are a couple of drug cases in district court this morning including Elliot Liebowitz, who faces up to 15 years in prison after he admitted selling 3 ounces of cocaine to an undercover officer back in January. Casey Smith, 18, and Corey Doan, 34, who were arrested in unrelated drug sweeps are also up for sentencing before Judge Dave Gamble today.

The red flag stays furled today as temperatures are predicted to hit 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The winds will be out of the south 5-15 mph turning to the west later in the day with gusts of up to 25 mph. The rest of the week is staying pretty much in the same place.

I had kind of hoped the dry winter would slow down the blooming of chrysothamnus naseosum, better known as the golden rabbitbrush. The bush is related to ragweed and is as pernicious a source of pollen as anything I've experienced in my life on the eastern slope of the Sierra. It typically starts blooming in July, but it was a little slow this year. That's OK because there's lots of it now.
