Gardnerville farmers market opens Wednesday

Opening day for the 10th season of the farmers market in Gardnerville is about to commence. Wednesday mornings, farmers and vendors from far and wide will convene for a rendezvous in Lampe Park. The market opens at 8 a.m. Wednesday and runs through 1 p.m., weekly.

In keeping with a "food, farm or dirt" policy, the market has everything from "seriously fresh produce" to outdoor decor.

Fresh strawberries and ripe cherries start out the seasonal fruit with pluots and peaches at mid-season and then an array of melons, pumpkins and gourds for the finale.

There will be gift items, kettle corn and fresh lemonade, as well as slushies and bakery goodies. Added attractions include organic pet food, rusty garden props, plants and flowers, hand-sewn bags, outdoor shoes and a massage therapist.

There will be something new every week, so bring a friend and come to Lampe Park for the weekly farmers market all summer through Sept. 18.

The Lampe Park farmers market is a member of the Nevada Certified Farmers Market Association, presented by Sierra Farmers Markets and the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department. For more information, call 782-9828.
