Historic Barn Tour and Barbecue coming in May

Tickets are now available for the Douglas County Historical Society's Historic Barn Tour and Barbecue to be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5. Tickets are limited and it is suggested that you get your tickets early at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, in Gardnerville, also at the Tahoe Ridge Winery at 2285 Main Street in Genoa.

Tickets cost $40 per person and include guided tours of some of the Valley's historic timber frame barns. Following the Historic Barn Tour, tickets will include a great barbecue lunch hosted by the Douglas County Farm Bureau and live entertainment at the Mormon Station State Park. Tickets also include admission to the Genoa Court House Museum and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. All proceeds benefit the Douglas County Historical Society.

There will be two tours, the Stetson or the Maverick tour. The Stetson tour includes the Holden, Scossa, Sozzi, Van Sickle and Trimmer barns. The Maverick tour includes the Anderson, Jacobs, Henningsen, Jubilee and Trimmer barns.

The Douglas County Historical Society's Historical Barn Tour and Barbecue is a way to spend a spring day learning about the historic timber framed barns of the Carson Valley plus an opportunity to visit both museums to learn more about Douglas County's rich and exciting history.
