• Taylor-York Salon is doing their part for earth month by raffling Aveda products to raise money to restore wetlands and educate the public about the importance of clean water.

• Panchita's Killer Salsa owner Fran Pritchard was honored with the "Made in Nevada" Woman of the Year award at the Women's Expo in Reno March 24. Pritchard makes her Killer Salsas in Gardnerville and sells them in area grocery stores and restaurants.

PEOPLE

• Bob Stewart will speak at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center on Thursday. His subject will be Aurora, a ghost town in Mineral County, Nevada. Stewart is a former natural resource agency liaison and public relations officer for the Bureau of Land Management. Page B1

• There are only a few tickets left for the second annual St. Gall Catholic Church High Tea. The event, held on April 21, includes a variety of homemade tea sandwiches, sweet breads, desserts and a raffle. Donations of raffle prizes are still needed. Page B1
