Incumbency: Ccandidate for office

Education: Degree in physics from Georgia Tech, degree in law from University of Georgia

Record of service: I have worked on the various political campaigns of my father, former President Jimmy Carter. I am proud to have served my country in Vietnam as an enlisted man in the U.S. Navy.

Platform: At age 59, Jack Carter is making his first foray into politics. Until earlier this year, Jack ran a small investment business in Las Vegas along with his wife, Elizabeth. He decided to run for the U.S. Senate based on his growing concern about the direction in which America is being taken by President Bush and the Republican-controlled Congress.

Jack Carter supports comprehensive immigration reform, the core of which must be strengthening border security. He supports fines for illegal immigrants before they can be considered for legal resident status. However, he says proposals to make illegal immigration a felony will only drive millions of people already here even further underground and into the shadows, which is counterproductive.

Having grown up in Plains, Georgia Ð population 650 Ð Jack Carter is a small-town boy at heart, a person who understands and shares the concerns of small-town and rural Nevadans. He is well aware of the need to balance The Silver state's amazing growth with respect for our environment.
