Education: Bachelor of science in business from George Washington University, Washington, DC., and a master's degree in accounting from Nova Southeastern University.

Record of service: Served 12 years in the Marine Corps, advancing from private to major and serving as battalion executive officer, company commander, and operations officer, with a former top secret clearance. Awarded the navy commendation medal with combat "V."

Honors:

n One of 33 Delegates from Nevada to the Republican Nation Convention in 2004.

n Elected Treasurer, Nevada State Republican Central Committee for five years

n Presidents Award from the Clark County Bar Association

n Clark County delegate to the Nevada Republican Party Central Committee.

Platform: I bring a unique blend of experience and education to state government. Appointed by Gov. Guinn, I am the first CPA in this office in 40 years. In addition to being a CPA, I am a certified fraud examiner, with a master's degree in accounting, and a former adjunct professor in accounting for CCSN.

The controller is responsible for fostering leadership and professional guidance in state fiscal policy, and integrity of the accounting system. I have demonstrated leadership while serving twelve years in the Marine Corps. The controller is Nevada's chief fiscal officer and responsible for plans for promoting frugality, economy, and better management of the fiscal affairs of the state. I subscribe to that goal. My work in collections for a public corporation, and as a computer systems analyst will benefit the state.

Having done many fraud investigations, I am accustomed to digging into the accounting system to identify both waste and fraud. I have investigated securities fraud for the SEC, bank fraud, insurance fraud, and worked on eminent domain issues.

In the role of CFO, my background can benefit other constitutional, legislative and administrative offices. As a member of the State Board of Finance, the Executive Branch Audit Committee, and the Department of Transportation Board, my experience will assist these boards and agencies, as well as provide input to the budget process.

I have demonstrated my commitment before deciding to seek this office by my attendance at legislative sessions, and being active in education, zoning, road, and infrastructure issues on the local level.
