Boys soccer: Tigers beat up on Mustangs

The Douglas boys' soccer team dominated virtually every aspect of the game Wednesday afternoon at Damonte Ranch, topping the Mustangs 8-0.

Freshman Edgar Arceo led the charge, scoring four goals in the first half and getting an assist in the second half.

Douglas peppered the Damonte Ranch net with 33 shots while the Tiger defense allowed only two.

Ray Kaffer, Derik Cantley, Kyle Mannschreck, Jake O'Farrell and Geoff Rahe anchored the defense while Jeff Crozier posted his third shutout of the year in net.

Robbie Forest also had an excellent game in the midfield for the Tigers.

In the second half, Mike Gransbery scored his 43rd career goal and 12th of the season, assisted by Arceo.

Michael Barnes scored two goals in the second half and Crozier came out of the net toward the end of the game and scored a goal of his own on an Andrew Andraski assist.

Andraski had two assists in the game and Jeff Hulsey, Dustin Goldade and Gransbery each had an assist.

The Tigers (7-1, 1-1) travel to North Valleys Saturday for a 1 p.m. game. Douglas is 3-0 on the road this season and is ranked No. 4 in the Sierra Nevada Sports Media Poll.
