Prepare for a Haunted Weekend

Haunted Weekend plans are now under way by the Douglas County Historical Society, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority and the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau for a weekend of fun, historic and haunted events in both Carson Valley and Carson City. Haunted Weekend will take place the third weekend in October, when the leaves go crunch under your feet and whirl in the cold fall wind. That is when area ghosts can be found on the streets and in the cemeteries, for a fun and historic Haunted Weekend. One thing is for certain, you won't be bored to death.

n On Friday night, Oct. 20, the ghosts of Gardnerville pioneers can be found on the streets of historic downtown Gardnerville for the Haunted Gardnerville Ghost Walk. The cost is $5 per person and tours will depart from the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center at 1477 Highway 395 in Gardnerville starting at 6:30 p.m.

n On Saturday, Oct. 21, Carson City's Grave Concerns Ghost Walk will take place in the Capital City; tours begin at 9:30 a.m. and depart every 30 minutes from the corner of Third and Carson streets. Tickets are $15. The tour includes stops at some of Carson City's historic buildings and Victorian homes.

n Saturday night, Oct. 21, is a must for ghost hunter's, that is when the Genoa Cemetery Tour will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. You will meet some of the ghosts of Nevada's pioneer settlers. The cost is $5 per person. The cemetery is located at the north end of Genoa on Foothill Road.

n On Sunday morning, Oct. 22, The Haunted Genoa Walking Tour will depart at 10:30 a.m. from the Genoa Courthouse Museum on Main Street in Genoa. The cost is $5 per person.

Tickets for Grave Concerns, the Carson City Ghost Walk, are $15, while admission for the Haunted Gardnerville Ghost Walk, Historical Genoa Cemetery Tour and Haunted Genoa Tour is $5 for each.
