Deputies back Brady, EnEarl

Staff Reports

The Douglas County Sheriff's Protective Association endorsed incumbents Dave Brady and Jim EnEarl in the November election.

Brady is running for election to the Douglas County commission seat he was appointed to in 2005 and EnEarl is seeking re-election as East Fork Justice of the Peace.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Protective Association represents the deputy sheriffs, bailiffs and investigators of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The association exists to represent these employees in contract negotiations, and employment matters. The association enjoys membership of roughly 95 percent of all eligible employees. Visit the Web site for more information at www.dcspa.org The views and opinions of the protective association do not necessarily reflect those of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

In their endorsement, the deputies said Brady has consistently shown himself to be a strong supporter of law and order in Douglas County and has worked to assist the sheriff's office. Brady volunteers as a reserved deputy. He and Republican Lloyd Higuera are running for the seat.

Deputies said EnEarl has "consistently demonstrated a tough, balanced and common sense approach to problem solving," according to the endorsement. "Judge EnEarl has played a crucial role in the establishment and ongoing operations of the Department of Alternative Sentencing, which effectively manages nearly 400 sentenced offenders."

EnEarl is opposed by Republican Kelly Chase.
