Power line down in Minden

Firefighters are at the scene of a power line which was damaged at the Carson Valley Market on Highway 395 at 8:10 a.m. today.

Reports of a loose power line and a series of power surges accompanied the line's failure.

Firefighters cordoned off the market, which has lost electricity and are awaiting the arrival of Sierra Pacific Power Co. to shut off the juice.

Heavy rain has been falling this morning, leaving a half-inch in Centerville, according to weather watcher Julian Larrouy.

Snow is sticking on upper Kingsbury Grade, according to Jo Rafferty, who just arrived in Gardnerville.

Highway 50 east of Kyburz and west of Highway 89 is closed.
