• The first concert in the 2006 Summer Family Concert Series at Minden Park Friday was packed, according to the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Administrative Assistant Debbie Beam. The concert featured the surfin' sounds of The Rip Tides, and the series will continue with a performance by Mumbo Gumbo on June 30. Page B1

• The Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center will host a reception on Friday to show off new exhibits. The exhibits include a room devoted to the Minden Centennial with many items and photos from the town's history. Page B1
