- Forty-five vehicles were entered into the '50s Rockathon Car Show at Heritage Park on Saturday. Members of the Valley Cruisers Car Club, which organized the event with the Town of Gardnerville, were happy with the turnout for both the show and the swap meet. Page B1

- The Lampe Park Farmers' Market opens today, with a local bakery featured this year. Baked goods by Russell's Mercantile Bakery of Minden, strawberries from Watsonville and locally grown tomato plants are some of the items available at the park in Gardnerville. Page B1

- Douglas High's Ryan Bertucci won the state title in the boys' high jump at last weekend's Nevada 4A State Track Championships at Reno High School. Page C1

- Firefighters are working to prevent wildfires by asking adults to keep an eye out for children who might be playing with matches. The East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts has established an intervention program.
