Man jailed on aggravated stalking charge

A Gardnerville Ranchos man was jailed on $10,000 bail Wednesday, charged with aggravated stalking.

Jeffrey Palmer, 38, is accused of sending dozens of unwanted text messages to the 34-year-old victim, stopping at her home uninvited and making telephone calls between March 5-13.

Records show he sent her 25 text messages in a four-hour period on March 5.

n A 21-year-old Gardnerville man was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale after deputies found three plastic bags of marijuana and a scale in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Alan Cole Barr was jailed on $28,500 bail after his arrest May 6 at Douglas Avenue and Mill Street.

Barr was reportedly driving 25 mph in a 15-mph zone when he was pulled over. A records search indicated he was on probation.

Deputies found the marijuana and scale in a search of his vehicle.

Barr reportedly admitted smoking marijuana that day.

Two passengers were cited for not wearing seat belts.

n The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported 15 contacts for domestic violence May 3-9.

That included five calls for verbal domestics, seven arrests for domestic battery and three referrals to the District Attorney for review or prosecution.

Five juveniles witnessed domestic violence.

The Family Support Council received four approvals for temporary restraining orders from East Fork Justice Court.

Connie Richardson, sheriff's office domestic violence prevention coordinator, said the average range for contacts this time of year is 12-14 per week.
