Shoes for children who need them

Payless Shoe Source on Topsy Lane is offering an Easter Shoe Program.

Shoes purchased for the program go to children in need of shoes, and the list is piling up.

"We make cut outs of the child, with the shoe size and the type of shoes they need," said store manager Autumn Smith. "Also, some people come in and buy gift cards. There's still a lot of kids that we have to take care of."

Smith said that Kim Riggs, a homeless advocate, works with the school district to help children who are in transition. This is the ninth year for the shoe program.

If you want to purchase a pair of shoes, go to Payless Shoe Source at 911 Topsy Lane between now and April 9. Shoes purchased for the program will receive a 10 percent discount. For more information, call Kim Riggs at 690-1303 or Payless at 267-1389.
