Two hurt in Sunday wreck

Two people were injured in a two-car accident 8:15 p.m. Sunday night at the intersection of Highway 88 and Mottsville Lane.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a silver 1998 Volkswagen Golf driven by Laura Michel Valenzuela, 22, of Carson City was traveling north on Highway 88 when she failed to stop for a red light and struck the side of a 1995 Subaru Legacy driven by Sydney Michelle Dufty, 18, of Gardnerville.

Both Dufty and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Carson Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Valenzuela was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal.
